CPQ for Manufacturing
HVAC, configure-to-order, and 3D visual configuration
Manufacturing CPQ is a configuration and order-handoff problem. We implement rules that stop invalid HVAC and industrial combinations, generate BOMs the ERP can accept, and add 3D visualization when buyers need to see the unit before they sign.
CPQ software for manufacturing configures valid product variants, prices them from governed rules, and produces a quote plus a BOM or CAD package the factory can build. HVAC manufacturers usually need dimensional constraints, options packages, and dealer quoting. Discrete manufacturers usually need configure-to-order rules, ERP handoff, and sometimes a 3D visual configurator.
Key Benefits
Valid configurations
Rules block combinations the factory cannot build
Automated BOMs
Multi-level bills of materials the ERP can consume
HVAC and industrial options
Dimensional, electrical, and package constraints
3D when the buyer needs it
Visual configuration instead of a SKU spreadsheet
Fewer engineering reviews
Only exceptions go back to applications engineering
Engagement path
- 1
Map the product and the factory constraint
Separate sales options from manufacturing options. HVAC coil sizes, voltage, and agency listings are not the same kind of rule as a discount band.
- 2
Choose the engine that can hold the model
Tacton and Epicor for variant and 3D-heavy catalogs. Oracle or SAP when ERP is already the system of record. Salesforce only when CRM-native quoting is the real constraint.
- 3
Generate the BOM the ERP will accept
A quote that cannot become a sales order is not a manufacturing CPQ. We test the handoff, not only the PDF.
What We Deliver
Comprehensive solutions tailored to your specific CPQ needs
Configure-to-order rules
Option dependencies, constraints, and guided selling so reps and dealers cannot build an invalid unit.
BOM generation
Generate component lists, quantities, and costing inputs that match how the plant actually builds.
3D visualization
Connect a visual configurator when the buyer needs to see dimensions, finishes, or equipment layout before they approve the quote.
CAD and PLM integration
Sync drawings and engineering data so the quote and the design stay on the same revision.
ERP connectivity
Handoff to SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or Infor for inventory, costing, and order creation.
HVAC and dealer quoting
Price books, territory rules, and option packages for HVAC manufacturers selling through dealers and reps.
Common questions
Which CPQ engines fit manufacturing catalogs?
There is no single winner. Oracle CPQ and SAP CPQ fit plants already on those ERPs. Tacton CPQ fits configure-to-order variant modeling. Epicor CPQ (KBMax lineage) fits visual and 3D configuration. Salesforce CPQ fits manufacturers whose quoting problem is CRM process, not engineering configuration. The manufacturing shortlist is on the dedicated software page.
What does HVAC manufacturing quoting usually need?
HVAC quotes usually fail on dimensional constraints, option packages, dealer price books, and long engineering reviews. The same pattern shows up in other configure-to-order equipment: encode the factory rules so a dealer or inside-sales rep can produce a valid unit without waiting on applications engineering for every deal.
When do manufacturers need a 3D visual configurator?
When the buyer cannot picture the finished unit from a SKU list: enclosures, furniture, industrial equipment, or HVAC layouts. Epicor CPQ and adjacent visual tools are usually stronger than Salesforce CPQ for that job. See visual configurator services.
